Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2016

Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2016
05th Dec 2016

TJ International has been shortlisted for the Best Managed Large Business category for the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2016. The category was set up for companies that are reducing their environmental impacts regarding energy, pollution, water, waste, transport, purchasing, building, environmental management, and the way the companies relate to their staff and wider community.

The celebratory event took place on Friday, December 2nd at a glittering ceremony held at Truro School with Mark Sullivan of Provenance Brands as the Keynote Speaker.

Daphne Skinnard from BBC Cornwall presented the awards and the agricultural machinery manufacturer, Teagle Machinery, was awarded overall winner on the night. The complete list of all winners can be found on Cornwall Sustainability Awards website.

Cornwall Sustainability Awards were set up in 2002 by Cornwall Council, in conjunction with district councils, the Environment Agency, Cornwall Business School, and Groundwork. The awards are designed to encourage businesses of every size and description to adopt more sustainable practices.

Interest in the awards has grown rapidly, with entries from a great variety of sectors, including brewing, printing, hotels, catering, building developers, holiday accommodation providers, knowledge providers and even power boat manufacturers. Many winners and entrants have gone on to win national and international awards and have become excellent ambassadors for sustainable development, for example, speaking at national conferences, developing training packages, forming close links with schools, colleges and universities, advising other businesses, taking a prominent role in local affairs (for example, chairing the local chamber of commerce), and generally inspiring others to follow their example.
